Description: The three – day long anti – immigration protests quickly turned violent and made the US city of Los Angeles a battleground between protesters, the local police and the National Guard. US President Donald Trump invoking the Title 10 authority which authorizes the President not the local Governor to be in command of the state’s National Guard troops, called up to 2 thousand troops from the LA National Guard to restore order and assist the local police in dimming down the violent protests. The civilian upheaval began on 06 Jun, Friday, when ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents conducted several arrests in the LA cities of Compton and Paramount after which demonstrators took to the streets to protest Trump’s violent immigration crackdown. The protests quickly turned violent on the night between Saturday and Sunday as the US President decided to deploy the National Guard and federally override local governance stroking criticism from LA Democratic Governor, Gavin Newsom. Protesters set police vehicles on fire, threw industrially made fireworks, concrete blocks and rocks at members of the LA Police Department. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth published on X that, if necessary, a platoon of Marines would be deployed to the city of Los Angeles if the protesters didn’t back down.

Impact: Trump’s violent immigration crackdown emphasizes enormous policy gaps and fuels further political, cultural and ethnic divisions in the US. The Los Angeles protest quick eruption into violence underscores the unjustified and unnecessary measures undertaken to combat illegal immigration by the Trump administration. Trump dispatching the National Guard only drew further civil unrest and incited more violence and chaos as the protests enter their fourth day. The protests and the violently escalated internal crisis in the US showcase the inexperience, ineptness and unilateralism in the Trump administration as almost every department has entered into crisis mode inflicted by the sudden, uncalculated and isolationist policies by the US President. The managing of the crisis falls on the local government as they attempt to cease the hostilities with the protesters and prevent the crisis from spreading which would substantially put law enforcement agencies under considerable duress. The protests give a wide perspective on the ongoing domestic political crisis the US is already experiencing which further emphasizes deep rooted issues and disputes which are tackled unlawfully and with apparent authoritarian civil mechanisms.
