Description: According to the White House’s Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the ramifications of Trump’s immigration executive orders will be fully operational by the end of the week. She stated that both DHS (Department of Homeland Security) and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agencies were granted complete operational authority to prohibit further influx of immigrants alongside all US borders. In case both agencies could not manage the crisis, up to 1,500 active military personnel would be deployed across the borders to enforce Trump’s executive order. The immigration problem doesn’t only concern Mexican citizens but also more than 10,000 Indians and around 1,900 Afghan citizens.
Impact: Trump’s immigration executive order could stem an immigrant crisis along the US – Mexico border while troop deployment could further incite tensions with Mexico. Civil unrest could possibly threaten the stability of the cross – border region as protestors are already active in several cities. The immigration executive order could potentially cause further diplomatic complexities between Mexico and the US as US President Donald Trump also announced raised tariffs for their regional ally.
