Description: The civil war in Sudan between the RSF (Rapid Support Forces) – led coalition and the Sudanese army has entangled the country into a prolonged armed fighting and severe humanitarian crisis. Latest advances by the RSF in the villages of al – Gitaina left over 200 civilians dead over the past couple of days. The advance comes in light of recent attempts which were denied by the RSF to form a political charter of the organization which would fold all rebel forces under the RSF umbrella in forming a governance body in the territory the organization controls. Sudanese government officials have stated that much of the armed group forces supporting the RSF were indirectly sponsored by the UAE (United Arab Emirates), an accusation the UAE denies.
Impact: Failed attempts to form a political organization indicates the RSF would additionally exploit the desperate state of the Sudanese military and gain ground control over larger parts of the country and its capital Khartoum. The UN has recently announced of a large-scale humanitarian crisis in the country which could be averted with approximately $6 billion, which indicated that the country’s socio – economic landscape is currently non – existent. The armed conflict would further continue as international involvement is little to none in the country, which could lead to additional territorial divisions and put the RSF in an advantage point of military and diplomatic leverage over the Sudanese government.
