Description: The M23 rebel group was announced to have overtaken the town of Minova, tactically important town in the eastern parts of DR Congo and rich with natural resources. DR Congo’s army has also acknowledged that M23 has made significant breakthroughs in other natural resources rich towns such as Lumbishi, Numbi, Shanje, Bweremana and the North Kivu province. The conflict rages for over 10 years as Rwanda have been criticized to have been M23’s main backer in the region. Description: Colombian President Gustavo Petro has announced his intention to declare a national state of emergency over the escalating armed conflict in the northeastern parts of the country in the Catatumbo region, between the National Liberation Army (ELN) and FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia). The conflict between the armed groups escalated after failed peace talks were delayed last week between the Colombian government and the ELN. The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs raised concerns over a prolonged humanitarian crisis as it reported that over 18,300 people were already displaced, with most of them fleeing to neighboring Venezuela.

Description: The US Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group deployed from San Diego on a joint naval exercise with the Philippine marine forces in the South China Sea. Both countries have committed serious naval resources in a close cooperation exercise aimed to strengthen allied presence in the tense South China Sea region. Description: The German far – right political party AfD saw a significant increase in popularity after an alleged Russian disinformation campaign was identified to have taken place through several fake German news outlets. Germany’s domestic intelligence agency BfV has established a taskforce which aimed to tackle Russian media disinformation campaigns. Description: The Syrian Democratic Forces have reported intensified clashes with several Turkish – backed armed groups in the northeastern parts of Syria, where territorial grapples have been going on since the ousting of ex – President Bashar al – Assad. Description: Chinese government officials have brokered a ceasefire agreement between the Myanmar military and the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) in an effort to de – escalate border fighting. The talks between the opposing sides were held in Kunming, Chinese city in the southwestern parts of the country where officials from MNDAA and the Myanmar military agreed on a temporary seizure of military operations on Myanmar’s border with China. The conflict began in 2021, when the Myanmar army overthrew the civilian government, with the Ta’ang National Liberation Army and the Arakan Army both launching operations against Myanmar’s military junta in 2023.
