Description: The armed conflict in Sudan further intensifies as the Sudanese military clashed with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) near an oil refinery close to the capital Khartoum. Fighting was also reported in the province of El – Fasher and the northern parts of Khartoum. South Sudan has suspended all social media platforms in the country as video footage of the fighting appeared on Facebook and TikTok. Description: President Donald Trump has signed an executive order which redesignates the Yemenis Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization as opposed to former President Biden’s designation of a Special Designated Terrorist Organization. The executive order underscored Houthi activities in the Bab al Mandab straight and their attacks on maritime trade and shipping and warned NGO’s and other organizations to review their financing and support to Yemeni’s organization affiliated with the Houthis. Description: The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced their intention to invest up to $600 billion in the US economy. President Donald Trump has said his first presidential visit could be to the kingdom if and whether the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman committed towards the investment. The US and Saudi Arabia are expected to deepen economic and military ties as Saudi Arabia mostly depends on the US for its defense industry capabilities and capacities. Description: The US military has commenced the relocation of the Typhoon Missile launchers deployed in the Laoag airfield to a different location in the country on the island of Luzon. The launchers would complement the Tomahawk cruise missiles in the Philippines as the US aimed to strengthen its defense and military capabilities in the Indo – Pacific region amid raised tensions with China. China has reacted in a severely negative way and blamed the US for inflaming a potential arms race in the region. Description: The US military has commenced the deployment of the upgraded B61 – 12 nuclear weapons across US bases located in Europe. The deployment mainly represented upscale in deterrent power in response to the escalating conflicts, especially the war between Russia and Ukraine. The nuclear weapons are equipped with 50 kiloton warheads which are accurate through hundreds of miles. Description: The British Royal Navy has tracked down a Russian vessel called Yantar which was suspected of conducting intelligence gathering operations alongside various European offshore infrastructures. The incident comes on the precipice of enhanced Russian hybrid attacks in the region as NATO strengthened their maritime defense capabilities. The French government also announced the deployment of their own naval capabilities to track the Yantar, however, no hostile intent has been identified from the ship.
