Description: The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have intensified their renewed ground offensive with new aerial attacks and advancements into spaces where Palestinians were confined. Egypt and Qatar have reportedly delivered a final proposal to US Special envoy Steve Witkoff on Hamas’ ceasefire terms which allegedly included the release of 10 hostages by the terrorist group, a 70 – day halt in fighting and the entry of up to 1,000 humanitarian aid trucks. The proposal also included the withdrawal of Israeli military forces on the northern, western and southern parts of the enclave before coming into effect. Witkoff previously said that he delivered a proposal to Hamas which didn’t include the terms outlined from Egypt and Qatar’s emissaries. Israel was heavily criticized by its European partners as the dehumanizing warfare continued to pile up the number of civilian victims.
Impact: The indications surrounding the final efforts to bring hostilities to a halt are far from positive, as conflicting statements incite continuance of the war and aggravation of the humanitarian crisis. Hamas has allegedly refused the proposition delivered by the US which further complicates the situation, especially considering Israel’s military position on the ground. Despite heavy scrutiny from the European leaders, Israel hasn’t signaled stoppage of its military campaign and continues to obliterate the region on the back of unilateral support from the US. Hamas is currently defeated on all fronts as their organizational structure has been depleted in Israel’s targeted assassinations or bombing runs which may prompt the organization to agree to a temporary ceasefire in the midst of ravaging humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
