Description: Hamas political officials have stated the ceasefire talks mediated by Egypt, Qatar and the US have continued as Israel kept violating the truce by cutting aid and electricity in the Gaza Strip. The fragile ceasefire agreement has held since Jan mostly due to the mediators’ diplomatic efforts as both Israel and Hamas have continuously blamed each other for violating the truce. Israel also enforced military operations in the Golan Heights and targeted military compounds within southern Syria as a response to the military buildup in the country which resulted in violent clashes between the HTS – led government and the formed Assad supporters.
Impact: Israel continues to strengthen its military presence in the region as the likelihood of the ceasefire agreement lasting slowly loses traction. Hamas could potentially benefit the current stalemate in the conflict as Israel is simultaneously engaged in Syria and Lebanon in an attempt to deplete insurgency incursions and cripple capacities of armed militants and extremists. The ceasefire agreement is expected to continue its stifling descent towards dissolution as both sides have continuously undermined peace efforts made by the mediators. The stagnant state of affairs is expected to continue as Israel would persevere with its military operations in the region and Hamas would aim to exploit the stalemate for mobilization and military consolidation.
