Description: Power cuts have been implemented by local Ukrainian government in the regions of Prykarpattia and Lviv as massive Russian aerial attacks targeted critical Ukrainian infrastructure. Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s energy company, preventively introduced power cuts in Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk in an expected resurgence of attacks in those regions as well. President Zelenskyy has further requested support from NATO and the US to provide more help. Russia have stated that Ukraine used British and US supplied missiles in their attacks and would respond in kind.
Impact: As the war between Russia and Ukraine enters unchartered territory, daily conflicts are expected to be on the rise as each side is trying to acquire an upper hand in the hypothetical peace negotiation process. With Putin and Trump set to meet soon at an undisclosed location, compromise is an unlikely scenario as Russia is aware of its momentarily advantageous position and is completely abusing the incoherence between EU, NATO and the US. With support unlikely to come from the Alliance or the US any time soon, Ukraine would have to rely on itself on grittily defending against Russian attacks.
