Description: Forty-five-year-old Mohammed Sabry Soliman was identified as the perpetrator of a deadly molotov attack in Boulder, Colorado. The man attacked a peaceful vigil held to honor the Israeli hostages still in Hamas’ captivity when Sabry rushed and threw makeshift molotov cocktails in their direction and yelled Free Palestine, leaving 8 people with serious burn injuries. The FBI office in Denver shortly after the attack, cordoned the area and arrested the perpetrator charging him with first degree murder, usage of improvised explosive devices and causing injuries to the elderly. Sabry was later discovered to be an illegal alien in the US and had plans to attack the event which were almost an entire year in the making. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his condolences to the victims of the attack and reiterated support for the US authorities combating the rise of antisemitic attacks on Jewish Americans. The attack comes in the midst of heightened tension between the US and Israel over the latter’s war in Gaza and just a week after two Israeli staff members were murdered in Washington by a pro – Palestinian perpetrator. US authorities have announced that enhanced security measures would be undertaken in Jewish religious locations as Israelis celebrate the Shavuot holiday.

Impact: The Israeli – Hamas war expands beyond the borders of the affected region and continues to incite religious crimes affecting civilian population expressing their discontent in a civil manner. The rise in antisemitic inspired attacks follows last week’s murder of two Israeli staff members as the attacks are becoming more violent and affect larger number of victims. The attack also affects the US crackdown on illegal immigration as measures and operations are expected to be increased using the attacker’s status of an illegal alien as an argument to implement more strict measures around illegal immigration. US internal security capacities in line with the country’s unequivocal support of Israel’s war in Gaza should be expected to enhance operations affecting the Jewish population in the country as the obvious upsurge in attacks continues to spiral.
